The Creative Economy!

The creative economy thrives on individuals working for themselves, setting up their own businesses. To do this it takes owning some great personal skills, which include: drive, commitment organisation and ambition. As your end goal should be to gain constant recognition and eventually see your name above the company that YOU have created!

In order to survive in the creative economy you have to understand that it is a constant risk and nothing is stable. Everything is uncertain in the sense that at the start of your journey you can never be sure as to when you are going to get your next job, until you actually 'make it'. You have to constantly seek out opportunities for yourself, as most of your success depends on you networking and socialising in the crowds that may benefit you.

In this industry there is both positive and negative times and sometimes you will feel like giving up. As nothing comes easy when you are trying to showcase your individual talent, and you may feel that you are always struggling for people to see your vision. You also have to be willing to take a vast amount of criticism, as people in general are very opinionated. Therefore, you have to learn to take the good with the bad, and pay more attention to the positives you receive. As that one positive from the 'right' person means that your talent could be taken to stratospheric heights. Then all of the negative press will vanish instantly and will become irrelevant. Through it all you have to stay confident with your belief and know that in the end things will change for the better, and you will achieve your dream.

There are three creative industries - Story of three parts:

Originators - This is some who creates and produces on-off pieces, that are then made into collectors items as they become so rare. For example this is what fine artists and photographers create.

Experience Creators - This is places that allow consumers to go and view a collective amount of pieces. For example this could be anything from galleries and auction houses, to shopping centres and pop-up shops.

Content Producers - This is places where consumers go to view entertainment-like pieces. For example this is known as going to the theatre, fashion shows, films and music festivals/concerts.

The world we live in today is full of innovation and growth, and joining the creative economy is becoming ever more popular. People are beginning to realise that they should be working in a field that they love, and not somewhere that will just help them live a 'normal' life in being 'comfortable'. It is becoming so common now and therefore the competition is fierce. You have to be able to stand out from the rest and show your creativity, individuality, talent and ideas. Otherwise someone will finish the race first; as it is not so much about the amount of talent you have. But more about how much drive and ambition you own. Therefore, if someone does not own as much talent as you, but excels further than you with their need to work in the creative economy, they are sure to come out on top. As they will not stop until they get what they want even if it means they have to work ten times harder than you in terms of creativity. So all in all, aim to have talent and drive and you can't go wrong!
